Living a Life Where Anything is Possible

Over the last year or so, I have had the privilege of reading some amazing books.  There are some that are “ok” and then there are those that show up in God’s timing and are deposited into your life at that moment when He knows you are ready, and need to, hear the message.   This is one of those books.

It took over 150 pages before the words spoken in prophecy over me were revealed to me in the same words that were spoken.  I have been truly blessed by this book.

This is one of the books that is on my 2015 list of books to read again… digging deeper and going deeper (that list will show up on this blog at the beginning of December.  I hope that you will join me in reading through the list)

And now for the review…

Breakthrough Faith: Entering Into a Life of Victory, Power, and MiraclesBreakthrough Faith: Entering Into a Life of Victory, Power, and Miracles by Larry Sparks

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“We all experience the impossibilities of life, just like the four men in the Bible who sought Jesus’ healing touch for their paralyzed friend. The question is—how will you respond?

You have two options. You can accept your circumstances as God’s will and simply give up… or, you can break through and receive everything God has waiting for you.”

Ignite God’s Vision for Your Life

Greater: Dream Bigger. Start Smaller. Ignite God's Vision for Your Life.Greater: Dream Bigger. Start Smaller. Ignite God’s Vision for Your Life. by Steven Furtick

Recently I became aware of a GodTube video of Pastor Furtick that I, as an evangelical Christian, find truly offensive.  For that reason,  I will not promote any products of Pastor Furtick and have removed my reviews of his books from my blog.

Are You Ready to Transform History

Are you ready to transform history?  This is the HUGE question that is posed by author, William L Ford III, in his book “Created for Influence“.

This is a powerful book that doesn’t pull any punches.  I knew from the first page of the first chapter that I was in for an interesting and challenging read.

“Abdicating our responsibility of preserving the customs, institutions and general moral conscience that prevent a society from decaying will leave the culture to rot all around us.  At times the Church stares in sickened fascination at what is decaying, longing for the Rapture, as God — and even creation– longs for our Savior to be manifest on the earth through us.”  Created for Influence page 17. Hope Runs

Hope Runs: An American Tourist, a Kenyan Boy, a Journey of RedemptionHope Runs: An American Tourist, a Kenyan Boy, a Journey of Redemption by Claire Díaz-Ortiz

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“She went to Kenya to climb a mountain. But God has other plans. When Claire-Diaz-Ortiz arrived in Kenya at the end of an around-the-world journey, she decided to stay the night, climb Mount Kenya, and then head back home. She entered an orphanage, seeing it as little more than a free place to spend the night before her mountain trek. Hope Runs is the emotional story of one American tourist, one Kenyan orphan, and how one day became one year that would change the course of both their lives forever.” Continue reading

Tested By Fire

Over the years, I’ve been known to purchase and attempt to complete several Bible Study’s.  I’ve not been very sucessful at it.  I’m not sure the reason, but my typical pattern is to be gung-ho for the first week, with my attention waning somewhere around the beginning of week 2.  Now, I’m not saying that I haven’t completed any… but I’m best when I am part of a group study.  Not so good on my own.

So I wondered when I agreed to review this 4-week Bible study, if I would be able to finish it and be able to give an honest and truthful review for the author.  Well… Praise Jesus!  Yes.  I finished it!  I loved this study.  I was sad to see it end.  I truly did wish that there were a few more weeks worth of study.  I do hope the author is working on her next study… she is truly gifted!

Check it out, I think you’ll be blessed as I was. Continue reading

SuperGal vs. God

I’ve thought for years, that I should write my story….  the story of those 56 days that started in December 2005.  The story of my husband’s home-going.  As I read this book, I thought that I was reading my own story.  This author, Lori Hynson,  she get’s it.  She was so able to write not just my story – no matter how similar the circumstances – but the story of every SuperGal out there.  This book has left me thinking through alot of old lately.  Memories I should have put away a long time ago.  Thank you Lori. Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in troublePS 46:1

God IS
It struck me as I was reading this the other day that God IS… it does not say that God “was”… it says…. God “IS”.   God is not past tense. He is with us today, just as He was with Adam, Moses, Abraham, and Isaac… all the saints that have gone before us. He is present and available to you and me just as He always has been throughout all eternity.  It continues to boggle the mind that the same God that walked with Adam in the cool of the evening in the Garden (Genesis 3:8), is that same God that “IS” today.

 God IS our REFUGE
He is our safe place, hiding place, our shelter from danger, our shelter from the storms. He is our safe haven, our sanctuary. I found this definition interesting… a place to flee Back To. Interesting… “Back To” suggests that I’ve been there before and I can go there if I need???

ps 46 1a
God IS our REFUGE and STRENGTH
Strength is not just physical power. It is also defined as courage, authority and influence. It is the inherent capacity to endure. It is also a stronghold or fortress. I know that everything is under Him; He has authority over all. I know that nothing can hurt me, attack me, or remove me from the REFUGE I seek in Him. He is our stronghold … our fortress. Praying Through Hard Times

As I am writing the review of this book…  I am trying to keep myself from thinking about the appointment that I have tomorrow morning for a breast biopsy.  I’m not sure that this book could have come at a better time.

With an ovarian cancer diagnosis 4 years ago…. and Praise Jesus, no reoccurence… I have been struggling with this appointment – playing out all of the worst case scenario’s over and over in my thoughts

But after finishing this book this morning… all I can do is take my heart and my fears to Him.  To take them to His throne, and at that throne… I find my strength.

I found solace in the words of this book… I pray that you do too. Continue reading

The Derision of Heaven

The Derision of HeavenThe Derision of Heaven by Michael Whitworth

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Every day it seems the world becomes increasingly hostile to Christianity. Values are being scuttled, faith is scorned, and God’s people are being marginalized. These difficult times pose two questions to Christians. How can we be the “light of the word” in such abject darkness? And how can God still be in control of all things?”

Arms Open Wide

I know that I say it over and over again… so forgive me when I say it again…  but I have just finished reading the most amazing book.

It is a 35 page devotional.  But oh it is so much more than that.  This book captivated me.  The author, Sherri Gragg, is a master storyteller.  Her ability to take a story from scripture and bring it to life many times left me without words.

With a subtitle of: A Call To Linger In The Savior’s Presence….  that is truly what you will want to do… just linger in His presence. Continue reading
