Breathe

Praying Through Hard Times

As I am writing the review of this book…  I am trying to keep myself from thinking about the appointment that I have tomorrow morning for a breast biopsy.  I’m not sure that this book could have come at a better time.

With an ovarian cancer diagnosis 4 years ago…. and Praise Jesus, no reoccurence… I have been struggling with this appointment – playing out all of the worst case scenario’s over and over in my thoughts

But after finishing this book this morning… all I can do is take my heart and my fears to Him.  To take them to His throne, and at that throne… I find my strength.

Arms Open Wide

I know that I say it over and over again… so forgive me when I say it again…  but I have just finished reading the most amazing book.

It is a 35 page devotional.  But oh it is so much more than that.  This book captivated me.  The author, Sherri Gragg, is a master storyteller.  Her ability to take a story from scripture and bring it to life many times left me without words.

With a subtitle of: A Call To Linger In The Savior’s Presence….  that is truly what you will want to do… just linger in His presence. Continue reading →

Deliver Us From Evil

I just finished a book called: “Deliver Us From Evil: A Pastor’s Reluctant Encounters with the Powers of Darkness” by Don Basham.

This was a very interesting book.  I had not heard of Pastor Basham prior to this.  I used to think,  like the Pastor originally thought, that evil cannot invade and reside within a Christian… as Light and dark… Good and evil cannot coexist in the same place.  I don’t know why I thought that, I guess it’s just what I’ve been taught along the way.  I do/did however believe that Christian can be influenced by evil.  That satan and his minions can, and do, influence our thoughts and behaviors.  Continue reading →

No More Ordinary is an interesting book. It is filled with inspirational stories of the Hero’s and Heroine’s of the faith. Throughout the chapters, these stories are used, by the author, as a basis to teach the principles of abundant life in Christ. Each chapter then concludes with a Prayer for Life, the Declaration of Life, the Scripture for Life, and the Words of Life.

While I truly did enjoy the stories told in these chapters, in my opinion, I am not sure that this book didn’t venture just this side of the prosperity gospel.
