There is so much that I could say about this book. But it was the title alone that caught my eye. After all, isn’t that what we all want. We want God first in our lives. I know I do. I love this from the back cover…
“True success in our walk with God and in life in general is not an issue of WHAT I need, but WHO should be first”. Now isn’t that the truth right there. I really am tired of doing it wrong (in my opinion) or perhaps I should say that I’m tired of doing it my way. That hasn’t worked out how I thought it would. Perhaps there is a better way. Or perhaps there is the Best Way. It’s time for a fresh perspective on what discipleship is all about at its core.

Based on the very familiar scripture passage of Matthew 6:33 – “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” the author, Pastor Stovall Weems gives us this invitation – “Your life, God’s Way”. Sound simple enough. In sharing his own life experiences, Pastor Weems recognized three “game changers” that apply not just to him, but also to anyone. First, God has a “way” for our life. Next, we don’t have to carry the weight of our life alone and third, God’s way is better than ours.
In unpacking Matthew 6:33, the author points out that The God First Life is the life that God intends for you to live. And the God First Life removes barriers and gives you a simple, yet sustainable touch point for accessing the freedom and joy that belong to you in Christ. And now, in living Matthew 6:33, we discover our new priority, new family, new life and new freedom that will come when we simply do what the scripture passage suggests… seek Him first.
This 160+ page book is really quite a simple read. However, it is packed with so many sweet nuggets of truth that will certainly give you pause for thought. Take the time that it needs and don’t just read the book, but begin to study and apply it’s truths.
