Understanding the End Times

The Holy Land Key: Unlocking End-Times Prophecy Through the Lives of God's People in IsraelThe Holy Land Key: Unlocking End-Times Prophecy Through the Lives of God’s People in Israel by Ray Bentley

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Don’t Just Read Prophecy. Step into Its Fulfillment. The study of prophecy inspires elaborate timelines and speculation about which world leader might rise to power in the last days. But meanwhile, it’s far too easy to miss the significant prophetic signs contained in stories of biblical characters, in God’s creation, and in the lives and actions of today’s Israelis and Palestinians.”

The Holy Land Key: Unlocking End-Times Prophecy Through the Lives of God’s People in Israel by Ray Bentley is quite an interesting book. Right from the beginning it is filled with intriguing personal stories about key players in present-day Israel. With all that is going in Israel daily, it is through these personal accounts, we get a glimpse of Israel – then and now. Continue reading

Peace Through Prayer

have had the priviledge of reviewing a book called “The Stress Cure“.  There are just some authors that just “get it” and this author, Linda Evans Shepherd is one of them.  Sometimes you wonder what makes a person an expert on a particular subject that they would write a book about it.  Well…  read this book, understand her story and you’ll know that she Just gets it.

Thank you Ms. Shepherd for allowing me to read your book(s).

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“We live in a world filled to the brim with advice, and when it comes to dealing with stress, there’s plenty of advice to go around. Sleep more, eat better, avoid this, seek out that. But more ideas about how to cope are not necessarily what we need if we’re stressed and anxious. What we need is a cure. The true remedy to stress, Linda Evans Shepherd says, is prayer.”

Steel Will

I just finished this memoir called Steel Will.  It is the story of SSG Shilo Harris – a young Army Ranger that was injured in an IED explosion in Iraq.

This is the finest book that I have read.  This book grabbed a hold of me and didn’t let go.  It was my honor to read and review this book.

I urge you to pick it up and read it.  Then give it to everyone you know.  You will not be disappointed and you will never look at your life the same again.

Be aware, this book contains some seriously vivid descriptions of this Warriors wounds and recovery.

“On February 19, 2007, SSG Shilo Harris was patrolling an infamous southern Iraqi roadway when his Humvee was struck by an IED. Moments later, three members of his crew were dead and Shilo had sustained severe burns over 35 percent of his body, lost his ears and the skin off his face, and lost much of the use of his badly mangled fingers. This fiery moment was just the beginning of an arduous road laced with pain, emotional anguish, and much soul-searching. For forty-eight days Shilo lay trapped in a medically induced coma as his wife, unable to ease his suffering, had to come to grips with a man utterly changed. Continue reading

Encouraging Truths to Hold On To

There are seasons that we all walk through that can make us think….  WHAT!?!?!?!?!  This isn’t how it’s supposed to be…  what on earth is going on…  you know what I’m talking about, we’ve all had them.  Well that’s what’s been going on around here for a number of weeks.  To say that the crazy is off the charts…  well that would be an understatement.

But… GOD is HIS infinite wisdom – which astounds me hour by hour – knew what was headed my way… and somehow this little book – What Your Heart Needs for the Hard Days by Holley Gerth – dropped into my life when I needed my soul refreshed and my heart encouraged.  It truly has been a blessing.  I would encourage you to pick it up for yourself or for that person that may just be having a WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!   going on in their life. The Singing Quilt

Every once in a while a book comes along that touches your heart.  The Singing Quilt by Kathi Macias is one such book.  It is not often that I read fiction, but I have to say that I did not want this book to end.  I wanted to know more about the lead charecter… I wanted to follow along with her new life in Christ.  Sadly though… the book came to an end.

Below is my public review of this book

The Singing QuiltThe Singing Quilt by Kathi Macias

She is convinced that what God has spoken to her heart is impossible. Until one day when she shares her concerns with a confidante who shows her a quilt – a quilt that depicts the life of a courageous woman.” Continue reading

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in troublePS 46:1

God IS
It struck me as I was reading this the other day that God IS… it does not say that God “was”… it says…. God “IS”.   God is not past tense. He is with us today, just as He was with Adam, Moses, Abraham, and Isaac… all the saints that have gone before us. He is present and available to you and me just as He always has been throughout all eternity.  It continues to boggle the mind that the same God that walked with Adam in the cool of the evening in the Garden (Genesis 3:8), is that same God that “IS” today.

 God IS our REFUGE
He is our safe place, hiding place, our shelter from danger, our shelter from the storms. He is our safe haven, our sanctuary. I found this definition interesting… a place to flee Back To. Interesting… “Back To” suggests that I’ve been there before and I can go there if I need???

ps 46 1a
God IS our REFUGE and STRENGTH
Strength is not just physical power. It is also defined as courage, authority and influence. It is the inherent capacity to endure. It is also a stronghold or fortress. I know that everything is under Him; He has authority over all. I know that nothing can hurt me, attack me, or remove me from the REFUGE I seek in Him. He is our stronghold … our fortress. Praying Through Hard Times

As I am writing the review of this book…  I am trying to keep myself from thinking about the appointment that I have tomorrow morning for a breast biopsy.  I’m not sure that this book could have come at a better time.

With an ovarian cancer diagnosis 4 years ago…. and Praise Jesus, no reoccurence… I have been struggling with this appointment – playing out all of the worst case scenario’s over and over in my thoughts

But after finishing this book this morning… all I can do is take my heart and my fears to Him.  To take them to His throne, and at that throne… I find my strength.

I found solace in the words of this book… I pray that you do too. Continue reading
