Read this and let your imagination run away with the beauty of the words….
“….. God’s display of talent is nothing short of supernatural. He put on the original magic show.
With a spoken thought the Creator turned an infinite void into an ever-expanding universe. Giving voice to His own imagination. He ignited the inferno of countless stars and sent worlds spinning into orbit. Like an inspired painter doodling on a three-dimensional canvas. He sketched out continents and colored in the oceans. Then, with mere words, God brought life — to Life!
“Grass, please.” And with the echo of His voice, a carpet of green covered the world.
“Trees, please.” And out of His imagination forests of foliage sprouted, decorating the planet.
“How about some fowl and fish.” A covey of wings soon dotted the sky and schools of fins splashed among the waves.
With little effort God’s imagination turned the ethereal void into something that had never before existed — a dimension that could be touched. He made the imaginable tangible. And building on that solid foundation, God Himself eventually knelt on the banks of the earth’s freshly formed shore, rolled up His sleeves, and sunk His hands deep into the mud.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…” Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being (Genesis 1:26; 2:7)
The Creator did not speak us into existence, like the burning stars and spinning planets. He made us.
With His own hand He sculped our eyes, ears, nose and toes. He crafted the chambers of our heart, the weave of our hair, the intelligent ridges of our brain. And then, bending down, the Created exhaled into that first man of mud the breath of Life, filling his lungs with air, his mind with thought, and his soul with the same imagination that had invented him.”

I have read these words over and over for the last couple of days. The beauty of these words… the image that the author paints with those words certainly captured my imagination. I’m not sure that I’ve ever heard the Creation story told in such a way… and the making of Man told with such elegance and beauty.
Those words are just a small part of an amazing story that I finished ready. It’s called The Illusion of More: The Trick to Finding Faith in a World of Deception. It is written by Harris III, himself a Master Illusionist.
The Author uses the amazingly beautiful story of the Creation and the making of man to show us “They had everything they could have ever wanted — healthy, timeless bodies, an endless supply of food and water, and a beautiful garden in which to play. Still…. they reached for the illusion of more.”
I wonder how often I reach for the illusion without even seeing that it is an illusion? How often do I look for the greener grass? How often do wonder… if only I had this… or I did that… or went there… if only… if only. Asking if only is one thing… Listening to the answer to the if only is where I can fall into the trap. Just how often, without even knowing it’s happening, am I listening to the master deceiver and reaching for the illusion of more? Are you?

When I first saw the title and subtitle of this book, I passed it by. Why, as a Christian, would I want to read about “the trick to finding faith in a world of deception”? I think that it was the word “trick” that turned me away. I do not embrace trickery. However, I decided to pick up this book anyways… and OH MY I am so glad that I did.
The Illusion of More is a remarkable little book (112 pages) told by a remarkable storyteller. To say that his words are unforgettable would be an understatement. The author, Harris III, takes us right to the beginning – to the Garden – and the first illusion of more… “If you eat this fruit you will surely be like God”.
And the story goes on from there to the illusion and deception of Satan tries to use on us to this day. Satan has only one trick, but that is all he needs. He knows that if he dangles our particular ‘carrot’ in front of us (our illusion of more) that we will reach for it over and over again.
This little book will help you to discern the lies you have been believing and replace them with life-changing Truth. Unmask the mirage of “more” and discover the secret to joy and contentment and stop allowing the deceiver to prevent you from living your life to the fullest.
