“The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, life to the fullest” John 10:10
You are the son, the daughter of the Most High King. Do not back down when the enemy comes around; do not cower, for we are called to be as BOLD as the Lion of Judah (Rev 5:5). God Almighty has put His Power in you so that it is there when you need it to ROAR.
Our enemy, satan, will use your past, your weaknesses, and areas of your life where you are not strong to entice, beguile and tempt you; believe that he will and he does. Scripture tells is in John 10:10 that satan has come to kill, steal, and destroy your life, your dreams, your future.
He will happily use your past mistakes to make you think God is angry, disappointed, disgusted with or saddened by you, your life, your choices, your failings, your sins, and that you don’t deserve His continued forgiveness nor His blessings. The truth is that that thinking is mistaken.
satan uses the circumstances, situations and areas of your life where you might be weak to try to demolish your faith and your trust in God’s love and provision. If he can get you to consider the possibility that you will never rise above those circumstances and situations, that you will never overcome those areas in your life, that you will never be successful, that because of certain habits and cherished sins, that you are wasting your time that God will never truly forgive you… he knows that you might just start questioning God and His promises for His children’s lives.
satan does not want you to feel the Power of God in your life. his goal is to put forward confusion and uncertainty into your life; he wants to steal the surety that you have in the Promises of God. he wants to steal the truth of your total forgiveness because of Jesus’ atoning work on the Cross. he wants to steal your peace, your joy, your happiness. he knows that when he gets in your mind and your spirit, he can reek havoc. he knows that if he can get a toe-hold in your mind that he can grab a bigger hold of your life.
But the truth is, we can face satan any time with the Word of God, and that the Word will kill satan’s power and any hold he thought he had on us. Sure he will tell you he’s strong, he will try to show you his strength, but when you use the powerful Word of God against him, he must flee. Just as Jesus answered everything satan said to Him with the Word of God, satan left defeated. satan is no match for the Word of God. Even he must obey the authority of God.
Every time you have a hesitant thought, every time you start thinking about your past sins and failures, every time satan tries to tells you that God is not going to come through on your behalf, recognize and acknowledge that this is the deceit of the devil and start using the Word of God as your counter measure… for this is warfare.
Never give up hope, God is near and He hears the prayers of His children (1 Peter 3:12). He works continuously on your behalf; stand your ground dressed with the whole ARMOR of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18) Stay anchored in Him; you will find that the Word will be brought to mind in an instant to extinguish the lies of satan. (Deuteronomy 3:22) God will fortify you so that you can stand against the deception evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3) God will give you His Power to endure the attack and to speak the truth of His Word to make the evil one flee. (Psalm 44:5)
Our God is over all powers, principalities, thrones and dominions (Ephesians 1:21) including the power of the evil one. Our God is the God of Mercy, and Forgiveness, Compassion, Love, Healing, and He keeps His Promises. (2 Corinthians 1:20)
Many years ago, my mom taught and encouraged me to not just read the Word, but to personalize it – to make it mine; to know and understand that the Word of God was written for me. When I begin to feel that I am under attack I turn to Psalm 91 as my basis for my warfare prayer.

“Father God, Your Word promises that whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. God, You are my refuge and my fortress; You are my God, in You alone I place my life.
I know that You will keep me from the enemy’s trap – his lies and deceit and treachery. I know that You cover me and keep me under Your wings. In you alone, I find refuge and protection. Your love and faithfulness for me is my shield that protects and surrounds me. In You, I will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
Though many around me may fall and be destroyed, the enemy cannot come near me. In You I say with confidence that You are my refuge, my safe harbor, my shelter. In You, my Most High, is my dwelling, no harm will overtake me, no disaster will come near me or my home. You command Your angels concerning me to guard me in all my ways because You love me. Your Word says that you will rescue me and protect me when I acknowledge Your name; when I call on You, You always answer me. In You alone I place my trust, in You alone I place my life, in You alone I place my heart… You are my God, You are my truth, You are my deliverer. In You I live and breathe and have life. Amen.”

Remember this: When we belong to Christ, the enemy never has the final word over our lives. We are secure in God’s hands.
Such a good reminder!
