Life is hard. Even as believers, we are constantly barraged by challenges, sickness, attacks, and tragedies. Loved ones die. Good people get hurt. The faithful are besieged. It is no wonder we are often plagued by questions that plant seeds of doubt in our minds.
And yet, we are not powerless or empty-handed in the battle for our faith. As children of God, we are legal authorities in the kingdom of heaven, charged with taking control of our circumstances and enlarging our territory. And one of our greatest weapons in the war is praise.”
What to say about Praise is My Weapon by Dan Willis. Many times while reading a book, I will highlight and/or make notes about certain points that really make an impression, these are thoughts and passages that speak into my life at the time or ideas that I would want to study a bit more. This book is highlighted and notated with handwritten notes in the margins throughout each chapter and sticky tabs on the important pages. This is a brand new book; sadly at this point it is tattered and torn from use and over use!
With chapter titles such as: Get To Not Have To, Unshakeable Conquerors, What is Praise, Express It, Praise My Weapon Against Fear, Praise and The Blood of Jesus, Praise is Prophetic, and another half dozen more… this book is filled with gems of wisdom that spoke deeply to me.
My favorite chapter is chapter 6 – Express It. In this chapter the author defines and explores the seven original Hebrew words for Praise – Yadah, Halal, Tehillah, Shaback, Barak, Zamar, and Todah. To learn the differences of these words, their origin and their use in the scriptures was enlightening.
As the title suggests, Praise is a weapon. It is a weapon when life seems to be overtaking you. This book will show you how praise can lead you to victory. As the author says – “Praise is not an option, it’s a command. Praise Him, no matter what. If life has knocked you to the ground, learn to praise Him from the floor.”
This book is a MUST read and not just read…. It is a MUST study!
