I received this book a few weeks back. I am pretty good at reading, and absorbing, books fairly efficiently. This book took me weeks to read. Why? Because I didn’t read it. I devoured it! I read and reread chapters; paragraphs… marked up line after line, making notes as it related to my own life, my walk in the Lord. My personal march around Jericho.
The author, Max Lucado, is a remarkable writer. With slight humor and the way he relates his personal life stories – this book just touched my heart so deeply. It has given me so much to ponder, to pray about, and to act on.
The story follows the Israelite journey out of Egypt to the Promised Land. By unpacking the Book of Joshua, Mr. Lucado shows us how we can take a lesson from Joshua and live the life God intended for us… a life in our own Promised Land.
I, for one, am so anxious and looking forward to a second read, and a deeper study, of this book.
My only regret with this book is that I did not have it in hard copy. While I love my Kindle, marking up what I’m reading doesn’t have the same effect as it does in hard cover!
If you feel that there is more… if you are wondering where the Promised Land is… READ THIS BOOK! I cannot recommend it any higher than that.
