The Josiah Manifesto

From the book: “Is there an answer, a guide, a blueprint that reveals what you need to know to survive, to stand, and to prevail in view of what’s coming in the days ahead?

Has it been revealed to us in the appearing of a sign from an ancient mystery playing out in modern times before our eyes?”

Jonathan Cahn does it again. With impeccable research and an amazing ability to bring together ancient mysteries and text and modern-day America, he unfolds history to give us a front row seat into how and what is happening is not a surprise – it was ordained from the foundation of man.

This book serves as a guidebook for us to not just know what to expect, but how to survive and stand and most importantly prevail in what’s coming in the days of the end. As stated in Chapter VI, “The danger of living in an especially darkened culture and of fighting evil, as one must, is to become defined by that against which one is fighting, to let evil become one’s focus, to live in reaction to it, and become its reflection. The righteous must guard against that. They must not be defined by what they stand against but by what they stand for.”

Some may read this book and consider it a stretch to associate ancient Israel to America today. To me it was not a stretch at all. One need only listen to the news for a day to see that we are indeed watching it unfold before our eyes right here in America.

The Close of the Age – Book Review

“It’s not a matter of if, but when. The end of the world as we know it has come. The governments have taken control of everything and there is a new world order emerging. The question is where will people turn in their moment of need when plagues, earthquakes, starvation and a one world order demand total allegiance?

With the sudden vanishing of millions of people, new martial law going into effect, impeding the freedoms of everyone worldwide, Ben and Elira are faced with the reality that they may never see normal peaceful days again. At least not how they knew it.”

This is an interesting book with a different twist than I have read in the past. Many of the left behind books focus on the Christian left behind, this is a take on the impact of “the disappearances” and how the world reacts to the Jewish population around them. Blaming them for what has happened with loathing.

The author does a good job at bringing to life what would most likely be the actual reaction from the non-christian remnant.

Preparing to Meet Jesus

Preparing To Meet Jesus” by Ann Graham Lotz and Rachel-Ruth Wright is a 21-day Bible study/Devotional based on Genesis 21, the story of Rebekah. Together, they bring verse by verse the quality and characteristics of Rebekah as the chosen wife for Isaac.

Each day’s entry begins with a deep explanation of each verse being studied as well as includes short story/ anecdote, and a challenge to the reader regarding their own preparation as we prepare to be the bride of the coming King Jesus. And as Rebekah shows, are we ready to meet him? Do we wonder about Him? Do we long for Him? Are we ready for our bridegroom?  Several chapters in this book touched me and caused me to take a deep look at my own life, attitudes, and preparedness for eternity.

The Power of the Cross Unveiled

The Power of the Cross: One Man Sinned and All Men Died - Another Man Died So All Might LiveThe Power of the Cross: One Man Sinned and All Men Died – Another Man Died So All Might Live by James Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“The Catholic Church believes that when Adam sinned (Genesis chapter 3) his trespass caused a reign of death that ruled over all men. That view is correct (Romans 5:17). The Christian churches do not believe God would hold blameless men accountable Adam’s sin, therefore they do not believe Adam’s trespass caused death to reign over anyone. That is why the Christian churches refuse to teach that little babies must be baptized to take away Adam’s sin. That view is absolutely reasonable, true, and correct. How can both views be valid?” Continue reading

Transforming Presence

Transforming Presence: How the Holy Spirit Changes Everything-From the Inside OutTransforming Presence: How the Holy Spirit Changes Everything-From the Inside Out by Daniel Henderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Why did Jesus say it would be better for Him to go? He said the coming of the Helper – the Holy Spirit – was that important. And that the Spirit who so powerfully turned bumbling disciples into unstoppable world changers is alive in us. But misunderstandings, confusion and contention are keeping us from the abundant, satisfying life God has for us in Him.

Transforming Presence by Daniel Hendersonis an eye–opening book on the subject of Holy Spirit. The author reminds and teaches us that He is not just a “member” of the Trinity. He is God. “Because Holy Spirit is a person, He can be intimately known deeply loved, and clearly understood. Because He is God, we relate to Him in abandoned worship, unquestioned obedience and full surrender.” (Page 84) And as such we have the gift of the indwelling presence of Holy Spirit in each of us; our role is to let His presence invade not just our life and the life of our churches as well.

Praying God’s Promises

Praying God's Promises: The Life-Changing Power of Praying the ScripturesPraying God’s Promises: The Life-Changing Power of Praying the Scriptures by Linda Evans Shepherd
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Prayer changes things. Praying God’s promises changes everything. The Scriptures tell us that when we pray the will of God, he delights to answer our prayers. But what is God’s will in any given situation? How can we know it? And if we don’t know it, how can we pray it?

In this inspiring book, Linda Evans Shepherd reveals that God’s will is not a mystery–it’s clearly laid out in his Word through his many promises. Through stories, practical application, examples of prayers, and guided reflection, she leads you toward a more powerful prayer life. Arranged by topic for ease of use, this book shows how to pray God’s promises of peace, for health, for relationships, for our children, and so much more.” Continue reading

The Anna Anointing

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“God is mustering an army of women with the Anna anointing who will cry out until the knowledge of the glory of the Lord covers the earth as the water cover the sea. Those with the Anna anointing will labor in intercession for the release of God’s power to win the lost, revive the church, and impact society with the gospel of the kingdom.”

“These women will be equipped with fire, zeal, and power to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ to those who look for redemption. God is awakening a prayer movement that will release the power of kingdom. We will see righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost on the earth once again.”

The Anna Anointing by Michelle McClain-Walter is 130 pages of pure revelation. While this is not a big book, both in physical size and page length, it is one of the most powerful books that I’ve read in a very long time. It contains 10 chapters plus the Introduction… that took me many days to read. This isn’t a book that you just read and put down. This is a book that you read a chapter, and then you read the chapter again in order to digest the nuggets that it contains. As you read, the Holy Spirit begins to stir your heart with longing and desire to be a prayer warrior with the Anna anointing. You begin to realize as you read that this is what you have been longing to understand. You do, in fact, desire to “become a woman of boldness, power, and strength” for the Kingdom.

Alive in the Spirit

Alive in the Spirit: Experiencing the Presence and Power of GodAlive in the Spirit: Experiencing the Presence and Power of God by A.W. Tozer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Is the Holy Spirit active in your life? Many people look to extraordinary experiences as evidence of the Holy Spirit. But what happens when the experience ends? How can we be filled with the Spirit every day in the ordinary things we do?

Many talk about being filled with the Holy Spirit, but few accept God’s conditions. Tozer lays down these requirements in his trademark bold and wise way. Though every Christian has the Spirit, not every Christian is filled with the Spirit. Knowing the difference will change your life.

Answering the Toughest Questions About God and the Bible

Answering the Toughest Questions about God and the BibleAnswering the Toughest Questions about God and the Bible by Bruce Bickel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When it comes to the big questions about God, Bruce Bickel and Stan Jantz don’t pretend to have all the answers. But they do know how to wrestle with doubt. They welcome questions, and in these pages they ask some of the most important ones you have about God and the Bible.

With candor, insight, and a disarming touch of humor, Bruce and Stan provide some answers to these critical questions, yet they leave enough space–and grace–for you to keep wrestling, asking, and seeking truth. Continue reading
