Writing your story was the easy part. As a self-published author, your work is just beginning. I won’t sugar coat it, for some there will be fairly steep learning curve to get your book completed, polished and presentable for publication. But I know you can do it.
In the last 10 years, I have self-published 5 of my own books (6, 7, & 8 are underway) and have served as editor and formatter for 5 other paperback and eBooks for friends. At this time, I also have 3 or 4 more titles running around in my head for future books.
I choose to use KDP – Kindle Direct Publishing. Yes, there are others out there – Lulu, Palmetto, Ingram Spark, Smashwords, to name a few. I have only used KDP, so what I write here about the process will be centered on KDP.
Know that the formatting and prep work for self-publishing will be much the same to submit your work online, though individual self-publishing companies may vary on specific requirements for the author.
Throughout these pages, we’re going to talk about the ups and downs of self-publishing. And, other than the few necessary dollars for Proof and Author copies and perhaps “your final nerve!” what this process with cost financially should you choose to opt for outside services.
I will give you the information that I have found out about different types of editing, formatting your manuscript, creating your cover, submitting your manuscript, creating and publishing your eBook and surviving the process.
I’ll also share what I have learned in the last 10 years when it comes to scammers and those looking to make it rich with other people’s money.
And so, with all that being said – let’s dive in shall we! But first…
Disclaimer – What I offer here is simple practical advice that can be found anywhere on the internet with a simple search. I do not make any claims that following any or all of this advice will guarantee the sucess or failure of your book publishing.
At the links below you will find resources from all over the web. From the KDP site, to publishing houses, to informtion I’ve researched over the years. I’ve pulled it together for you in one place.
You will also see a links entitled Private Clients. This is just what it says. These are links for clients that I am working with. These are private pages for their eyes only.

Types of, and reasons for, editors and do I need one? The KDP process. Creating your cover. Do I need a website? KDP Author Central. eBook Conversion. How to publish through KDP. Marketing.
