It Is Finished

From the book: “Without this Cross, there is no tomb. No “He is risen.” No “firstborn from among the dead.” No Savior with the keys of death and hell dangling from His belt. No Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End. Before we can celebrate where He is not (i.e., the tomb) and why He is not there, we need to backtrack to where He’s been, how He got there, and what His presence there accomplished.”

This is the first book that I have read by this author. I found myself enthralled with his ability to paint such vivid scenes with his words. I found myself reading and re-reading the same day over and over again. I found myself in his plain straight-forward word pictures bringing to the fore that which is ugly, detestable, and foul. I found myself starting up at the Cross and simply asking myself, why would He do that… for me?

Who am I? What is my true identity? This world sees me as a woman, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, helper, widow, worker, speaker, author, neighbor, the list goes on. And while all of those are in fact true, I am so much more. You see, my Savior says that…

I am forgiven.
I am redeemed.
I am accepted.
I am blameless.
I am blessed.
I am adopted as God’s child.
I am marked as belonging to God by the Holy Spirit…

and so much more.

You Don’t Have To Live Crazy To Follow Christ

Truer words were never spoken.  How often do we really wonder if we are “doing enough”… “good enough”… “sacrificing enough”… “suffering enough… are we even enough?  I’ll be honest, I wonder that at times.  I wonder if I’m supposed to be doing more, studying more, praying more, giving more, more more more.  Should I not watch that hour of television in order to pray more?  Am I too radical… not radical enough?  Sometimes it’s all too much.

Am I missing the joy of the journey that God has set before me in order to make sure that I’m 10000% ready for the “grand prize”. Continue reading
