A Compelling Faith in a Compromising Culture

A Compelling Faith in a Compromising Culture

By Mike Tatlock

All one need do is simply watch about 5 minutes of any news program and it becomes so glaringly obvious that this world, the world we once knew, is thoroughly out of control. We must join in and whole-heartedly agree that up is down and right is wrong, and if you dare to point out the obvious you will garner the attention of the cancel crowd and labelled intolerant, bigoted, prejudiced or worse.

This book got my attention from page 1. This author gets it. He asks and discusses that issues facing Christians in this world. How are we to live out the Gospel, in a world that thumbs its nose at TRUTH? How are we to live in a world so radically upside down and contrary to the Gospel of Jesus Christ? How?

This is not a once and done read… this book requires a second read, and then a deeper study.

The King Is Coming

The King is Coming

by John Bevere

The title of this book really does say it all! Yes, He is coming!

I truly did enjoy this book. The author methodically walks the reader through the Biblical evidence of our soon coming King as the author takes the reader through what the Bible actually says, about Jesus’ return and how that knowledge should change the way we live.

He does not introduce fear, or speculation.  Just hope and preparation for our eternity.

From the book description: “Through personal testimonies and a close examination of Scripture, John offers readers spiritual truths, insight, encouragement, and practical steps to develop a readiness shaped by faith and obedience. And as with The Awe of God, each chapter will close with his 5 P’s: Passage, Point, Ponder, Prayer, and Profession.

The King Is Coming is both a wake-up call, faith builder, and a source of hope for Christian men and women seeking to deepen their relationship with Christ and prepare for His glorious return.”

I highly recommend this book.

Set Apart For More

The Transformative Power of Living Your Whole Life for a Holy Godby Tasha Calvert

I get it, I really do. Yes, in the world it seems everyone is searching for some way to “set themselves apart”. Yet all the while… all seeming the same.

But, for God’s children, being set apart is oh so much different than what the world is seeking. In this book, the author walks us through just how we are set apart by the King… Set Apart to be Holy. With biblical teachings and practical tools, Ms. Calvert brings the good news that we are called to be Set Apart from this world. She uses her skills to take us through – What holiness really means, Identifying obstacles keeping us from being set apart, Practical tools we need to cultivate the Holiness we are called to and How to walk out who God already declares you to be.

This is the first book I have read by Ms. Calvert, and I thoroughly enjoyed her book. Her wit and sense of humor were delightful. I will truly say, this is not a “once and done” read and move on. This book requires reading, rereading, reflecting and deep study. Thank you, Ms. Calvert, for the opportunity to read this book.

Milk and Honey for a Woman’s Soul

“The Bible is full of God’s promises to His people. His promises stand even today… and He makes good on every single one. The land God promised to the Israelites was described as a land overflowing with milk and honey (Deuteronomy 6:3), a land bountiful in goodness and blessings.

As you read and meditate on the soul-nourishing inspiration and prayers in this delightful devotional, you’ll learn to claim the “milk and honey” promises of scripture—God’s promises of abundant blessings and provision—as your very own. With each turn of the page, you’ll encounter a biblically rooted promise and practical devotional truth that will bless your heart and nurture your spirit today and all your days to come.”

I had the pleasure of reading this inspirational devotional. It is beautifully arranged with lovely finishing touches.

Each of the 180 entries, includes a timely Bible verse along with a devotional to ponder and pray. This book would make a lovely gift, or an additional to your daily personal worship time.

You Are A CurseBreaker

You Are a Cursebreaker – Shatter Generational Curses and Claim Spiritual Blessings
By Jennifer Eivaz

“Uncovering the hidden dynamics of generational strongholds, familiar spirits, and the impact of corrupted bloodlines, pastor and bestselling author Jennifer Eivaz offers a scriptural and spiritual roadmap to freedom and generational blessing.”

This is not the first book I have read by this author, and just as with the other I have read, it did not disappoint. Throughout this book, the author relates and teaches the reader with her real life, world-wide experiences as a Spiritual Warrior. Ms. Eivaz speaks and writes with Kingdom authority and wisdom on this often hush-hush subject within the walls of many churches.

To Intercessors and Prayer Warriors, this is a deep and insightful must read. I highly recommend become more than a read-once… study it well.

How Can Empty Be Good?

Very early that Sunday morning, the women made their way to the tomb, carrying the spices they had prepared. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Jesus’ mother Mary. Arriving at the tomb they discovered that the huge stone covering the entrance had been rolled aside, so they went in to look.
But the tomb was empty. The body of Jesus was gone!”
Luke 24:1-3 TPT

The Tomb was empty

Dictionary.com defines “EMPTY” as:

  • containing nothing
  • having none of the usual or appropriate content
  • vacant
  • unoccupied
  • deprived of contents, to discharge
  • without knowledge or sense; frivolous; foolish
  • without force, effect, or significance; hollow; meaningless
  • without knowledge or sense; frivolous; foolish

Synonyms for empty: dry, vacant, uninhabited, unfilled, unoccupied, hollow, deserted, devoid, desolate, bare, blank, barren, flat, worthless, meaningless, idle

So how can empty be a good thing?

A search of the Dictionary of Bible Themes regarding “Empty” or “Emptiness” returned the following:

Scripture stresses the emptiness of human life without God, and notes that Jesus Christ chose to empty Himself in order to redeem humanity.

Human life can be empty Ruth 1:21; Ecclesiastes 1:2; 3:19; Ecclesiastes 12:8

Human attempts at fulfillment are empty

  • Work does not satisfy Isaiah 55:2 Psalms 127:1-2; Ecclesiastes 2:17; Ecclesiastes 6:7; Haggai 1:5-6
  • Pleasure does not last Job 20:5; Proverbs 21:17; Ecclesiastes 2:1-3, 25
  • Wealth does not satisfy Ecclesiastes 5:10; Ecclesiastes 4:7-8; Luke 12:15; 1Timothy 6:9-10
  • Material possessions are unreliable Luke 12:18-20; Job 8:13-15; Job 15:31; Psalms 49:10,12,16-17; Proverbs 11:4; Ecclesiastes 5:15; 1 Timothy 6:7
  • False religion cannot save Isaiah 57:13; Judges 10:14; Isaiah 44:17-18; Isaiah 45:20; Isaiah 46:7; Jermiah 11:12; Acts 14:15”

What’s Your Price?

“Then one of the Twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I hand Him over to you?” And they set out for him thirty pieces of silver.”  Matthew 26:14-15

What amount of money, fame, prestige, influence, authority, or wealth would it take for you to sell out Jesus Christ? For Judas, it was 30 pieces of silver. What’s your price? Do you have a price?

We live in a society where we are so interconnected… we have the ability, in the blink of an eye, to post, snap, tweet, share, pin, link, blog, ping and tag any and every thought, idea, or belief to family, friends, colleagues and strangers around the world.

But what if our family, friends, colleagues, and strangers don’t agree with our thoughts, ideas, and beliefs? What then? At what point do you stop posting, snapping, tweeting, sharing, pinning, linking, blogging, pinging, and tagging?

What if somebody completely disagrees with you and doesn’t like what you have to say? What if those strangers don’t like what you have to say? Do we change our stand, for the sake of harmony? Or do you stand? Are you willing to lose the approval of strangers for your thoughts, ideas, or beliefs? What about friends, family, and colleagues? Are you ready to maybe have your feelings hurt?

I imagine that most here are thinking… well if I say something uncomfortable and a stranger doesn’t like what I’m saying that I am not going to change what I stand for. I get that.

What about colleagues? What about your livelihood? What if what you spoke was “not allowed” or considered improper or politically incorrect or deemed intolerant by your employer? Are you okay to lose your income for what you believe? Will you continue to stand strong in your beliefs? Remember, we’re talking about making your living and your income. Continue reading

Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table

I bought a book a couple of months ago, “Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table” by Louie Giglio. I was intrigued by the title and the back cover description as it was in line with the book that I had recently published. https://titus345.com/my-books-2/Who-do-you-think-you-are/

From the back cover:
“You don’t have to let negative thoughts control your life. You don’t have to allow the enemy to influence your thinking. You have power through Jesus Christ to take control of your thoughts and emotions. Jesus invites you to a table the He has prepared for you – a table where the enemy is not invited.”
My original intent was to have this book as my summer study. I mean seriously ten chapters – 194 pages, just the right size for a summer study.
Oh my… was I wrong. This book has taken me through the summer and just into the fall to get through it all. It is so jam-packed with simple, yet such profound wisdom… so much needed in my life that I found myself reading and rereading the same pages… and some paragraphs. I found my thinking in these pages.

Perspective

glass ball on wood clip art

The difference between a bad day and a good day is simply just a difference in perspective. We have the ability to change how we think, to alter our perspective, and so change how we feel and how we act on any given day, or in any particular circumstance.
Many of us spend so much of our lives trying to discover our purpose, why we are in this life.  Asking questions like: “Why am I here?” “What am I supposed to be doing?” “What does this life mean?” “What is the point of all of this?” “Is this all there is?” And then there are those questions that we already know the answers to… “Why can’t I just be happy?” “Why do I feel so empty?” “Why can’t I have it all my way?” “Who am I really?” “Why isn’t it all about me?”

Jesus Ain’t Woke

Jesus Ain’t Woke: Your Guide To Real Christianity by Kade Young
Jesus aint wokeFrom the back cover: “The woke church is a counterfeit. It has great influence but no power. It attracts crowds of spectators but produce no followers of Jesus. It puts on a great performance, but everyone goes home to life as usual…   The “woke” ideology is nothing more than empty human thinking.”
This little book has been sitting on my TBR pile for quite some time. I do wish I hadn’t waited so long to read it! While it is only 51 pages long, it took me more than a week to read and digest everything I was reading.
It is packed full of truth, biblical truth! Truth that is so much needed in this often times upside-down world we find ourselves in today. These are truths that must be preached from the Church pulpits, by Pastors and Clergy unafraid and unashamed of the Gospel of Christ.
