Perspective

The difference between a bad day and a good day is simply just a difference in perspective. We have the ability to change how we think, to alter our perspective, and so change how we feel and how we act on any given day, or in any particular circumstance.
Many of us spend so much of our lives trying to discover our purpose, why we are in this life.  Asking questions like: “Why am I here?” “What am I supposed to be doing?” “What does this life mean?” “What is the point of all of this?” “Is this all there is?” And then there are those questions that we already know the answers to… “Why can’t I just be happy?” “Why do I feel so empty?” “Why can’t I have it all my way?” “Who am I really?” “Why isn’t it all about me?”

1 John 2:17 MSG “Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.”
The Bible is clear that this life is fleeting. God makes it abundantly clear that what we do with our lives here, in this life, is of eternal significance. We have exceptionally significant things to do and precious little time to accomplish them.
So, to genuinely live this life to the fullest as our Heavenly Father asks of us, to make an impact which we alone can make in this life and to those around us, we must understand of how brief and valuable our lives are. We need to change our perspective on our life, our purpose, our calling, our heavenly directive.
God has a plan for each of us and our lives. Why else would He design you with unique skills, talents, and gifts. And He placed particular importance on your mind, heart, and hands and your willingness to see beyond yourself into the world around you to use your heart and hands and skills to serve the world around you, rather than seek the world to serve you.
Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Your Heavenly Father has accomplishments planned for you that only you can achieve. He has things for you to complete that He does not have for anybody else.
But we (believer and non-believer) must each understand this. He has also given each one of us free-will. He will not impose His will on you. You must make the choice to live in service to Him… or in service to yourself. The choice is yours; it has always been and will always be yours.
He has given us the ability to run our own lives – devoid of a relationship with Him. It is our choice, every minute of every day, to surrender our lives to Jesus and follow the guidance of Holy Spirit living in full assurance of life eternal in Jesus. Or… we have the choice to reject Jesus and Holy Spirit and life a life eternal in complete separation from Him.
1 John 2:15-16 “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father but are from this world.”
My prayer today is that you will look at your own life and answer these questions. “Am I living the life I was created for?” “Or am I living the life I want?” “Am I choosing to serve my own selfish needs, desires and wants with no regard for those around me?” “Am I more significant than those around me?” And the most important question to ask yourself…
Which God do I serve? The God of this universe, the Creator of all, the Infinite, Immutable, All-Sufficient, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Unchanging Faithful, Just, Merciful, Gracious, Loving, Holy and Glorious King… or do I serve the god of me?
From your perspective… Are you your god?
