Jesus Ain’t Woke

Jesus Ain’t Woke: Your Guide To Real Christianity by Kade Young
Jesus aint wokeFrom the back cover: “The woke church is a counterfeit. It has great influence but no power. It attracts crowds of spectators but produce no followers of Jesus. It puts on a great performance, but everyone goes home to life as usual…   The “woke” ideology is nothing more than empty human thinking.”
This little book has been sitting on my TBR pile for quite some time. I do wish I hadn’t waited so long to read it! While it is only 51 pages long, it took me more than a week to read and digest everything I was reading.
It is packed full of truth, biblical truth! Truth that is so much needed in this often times upside-down world we find ourselves in today. These are truths that must be preached from the Church pulpits, by Pastors and Clergy unafraid and unashamed of the Gospel of Christ.
It only took a couple pages into Chapter One to read:
“The American church is intimated by culture’s demand for inclusion, so we forsake God’s commands and worship the god of inclusion instead.”
“It’s not that we’ve believed an outright lie; we would be able to recognize that. But we’ve adopted a half-truth, which is not truth at all?”[i]
I will agree with this author that there was a time in many churches, where you were required to look, talk, act, live, etc. in order to be considered Christian. Living contrary to the local norms and customs you were deemed a “sinner”. And thankfully, many churches recognized the error of their ways and corrected themselves.
However, during that correction many only preached acceptance and forgiveness. Little was spoken of sin and repentance, as if sin didn’t matter anymore. Almost as if you could be a Christian without changing your lifestyle… or so people thought.
Little mention was given to the clear and unambiguous teachings of God’s Word. It is true, God’s love is not tied to our behavior. It is unconditional. The problem is – God’s love does not ignore sin.
Sadly today, the Woke Church keeps sin in the shadows and even goes so far as to advocate for sin, by saying” “we can’t confront sin at church because the sinner will feel excluded.”
The Woke church will pat itself on the back by preaching gummy-bear sermons of love and acceptance and watching their numbers grow as the sinner continues living in their sin. And the result –
“Families are more broken than ever. Biblical morals have corroded to where they have almost disappeared. All this happened while the church was having its party.”[ii]
I could go on and on with the profound truths found in these fifty-one pages, but instead I will urge you to get this book for yourself. Do the work. Don’t just give it a cursory read. Study it, learn it, digest it. Then read it again. This is a much-needed book for such a time as this.
